I’m heading to Williamstown in June. I’ll be assisting John Rando on A Flea in Her Ear and directing two pieces in their studio space. After that I come back to New York for the Drama League Directing Fellowship. And at some point along the way I’m working on a new project with SLANT.

I wrote a short piece while I was sick last week. I just sat down and started writing. Something about my sorry, pathetic, feverish state inspired me. And now the piece is being performed by the beautiful Amelia McClain and dashing John Belhmann in a new performance series call SubTank. It’s a weird little piece called Home Alone. One quick aside – Home Alone (yes the Maccullay Culkin movie) is my favorite movie of all time. Seriously. And before you judge me for that, you should put that little gem of a movie at the top of you netflix queue and give it a whirl. Anyway, come one if you can. Should be a really fun evening. As I Was Going To Bed Last Night…

As I was going to bed last night, my wife turned to me and said, “I had fun tonight. I think Chad’s show might be as big as Rent.” I took that in and then said, “I think you’re right.” Last night my wife and I attended the Broadway opening of Passing Strange, a brilliant new musical about a young artist’s quest for identity. It was exciting for two reasons. It was the Broadway debut of one of my best friends and it marked a departure from the slew of wretched jukebox and movie musicals, which have plagued Broadway for the last several years. And the music is BEAUTIFUL. I am so proud of everyone involved with the show. The producers, the cast, the director, the musicians. They’ve all contributed something new and risky and breathed fresh life into the stale offerings on Broadway. Anyone interested in seeing some really talented folks tell a really amazing story should check this out: www.passingstrange.com. You won’t be sorry.
